Since President Ford signed ERISA into law in 1974, people have been able to have Individual Retirement Arrangements (IRAs).

Most people since then have thought the only thing they could invest their IRAs in were mutual funds, stocks and other financial instruments offered by the investment community.

This simply was not accurate.
